The godfather of surfer girl hairstyles Kevin Murphy came to Moscow for the first time. Blumenkrants team in collaboration with authentica organized a show combining a master class, a catwalk and a music show with tons of lighting equipment.
Kevin Murphy, a stylist and the creator of his own line of hair products, has been cooperating with trendy magazines for 30 years. He is the trendsetter for hairstyles and hair colours. Together with his international team of stylists, he creates an annual show where he demonstrates his mastery of creating and transforming different looks live on stage. His shows attract professionals in Las Vegas, Amsterdam and Prague. The first company to invite him to Moscow was authentica. Kevin Murphy's show marked the launch of his new collection Crystal Twilight and the beginning of the brand's global eco initiative.

Two years ago, we organized an invitation-only show and a presentation of colours Color.Me by Kevin.Murphy together with a team of brand's stylists. This time, we were to organize a show for the brand founder himself. Our task was to top our work, so we ventured a show at the level of such brands as Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton or Dior, produced by a famous New York agency Bureau Betak. We wanted to prove that with our skills, we can organize shows in Moscow that are none the less impressive than those overseas.

The new club "1930 Moscow" that normally hosts concerts of popular music bands was transformed into a trendy space filled with lighting and visual effects. Our idea was to immerse the venue into darkness, so that the light artists and video artists could create the "aura effect", which would appear due the interplay of light and shadows. In order to achieve that, we used the innovative lighting equipment, laser bars, cryo effects, heavy smoke, neon and other technical means. We also developed the design of a chandelier-looking cubic object specially for the event. This custom-made element was an important part of the show: it glimmered, changed colours and moved together with the music as the show evolved from the intro to the final walk. The script of the show was developed in collaboration with the international director of the project. Russian experts — the stage director Ksenia Pereverten and the choreographer Ilya Davydov — were invited to stage the intro and the final walk.

We created a particular colour scheme and video content for each of the seven performances prepared by the stylists. The show was broadcast on the main horizontal screens, and there were various brand's looks projected on high video columns. These effects, together with many others, allowed us to create the atmosphere of a music show in the style of David Bowie and Blondie. The performance of an indie-band called On-The-Go added to the effect. We managed to fully express the drive and the eclectic approach that are so characteristic of Kevin Murphy.

Apart from creating the show itself, it was important to present the brand, its news, activities and partners. There was a lounge area on the veranda, decorated in Kevin Murphy signature pink tones, with banners, huge product bottles and surfer party music. The welcome zone featured a photo call, product corners of Bessovestno Talantlivy and Dyson, as well as the art object called Reshaping of Beauty by Sasha Roschin (ROSA) for Christina Fitzgerald.

The collaboration Blumenkrants & authentica created an installation as part of the presentation of the eco initiative O.W.P. / Ocean Waste Plastic / that marked the brand's shift to using recycled plastic from the ocean for 100% of their packaging.

The Show by Kevin Murphy is the fifth project for authenrica. Their vision, style, solutions and a fresh innovative approach always make one surprise and admire. Their concepts and ideas become a breakthrough for the beauty industry and resonate with experts in event organizing. We're proud that we did it together. This new show united music, fashion, art and progressive visual effects to become another milestone and another achievement for our production team.
